Hi David,

welcome to the team. We are always looking for helping hands especially
for fixing bugs and implementing new features. For a first start, please
have a look
http://manual.limesurvey.org/wiki/How_to_join_the_LimeSurvey_project_team#First_steps.
A good start might be to check our bugtracker at
http://bugs.limesurvey.org and look for bugs which sound easy to fix.
Just add a note that you are working on it and always ask if you need
help or have any questions. You can best get in touch with us at the
Limesurvey IRC.

If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to contact me.

Best regards,
Marcel
