Hello Everyone,

I would like to contribute to this project. I haven't worked with Open Source yet; unless being a consumer counts :).

I have been a software developer for a while now and am currently working with PHP/JavaScript/CSS(3)/HTML(5)/Apache/IIS/etc. Previously its's been .NET/C++/Windows/Linux/... I also have Oracle/Postgres experience with some SQL server/MySQL/NoSql/SQL Lite thrown in.

Right now I'm running, and contributing to, an internal "consulting" group that takes on a variety of Software tasks.

And, Hopefully I haven't put you all to sleep by now!

If you are still awake, please let me know how I can contribute.

Viele Dank (Lieder Mine Sprache ist nicht so gut)

Chris

Hi Chris,

We are always excited to have new people working with us!

Please join us on IRC when you get the chance, #limesurvey on
irc.freenode.net.

Our project lead, Carsten, and several of our core team are German as well,
so if ever your English is not good enough they will be able to assist ;-)

If you'd like to get started on contributing and get familiar with the code
you can try to get a LimeSurvey 3 (LS3) installation up and running.
For development LS3 requires php 5.5, git and composer to be installed on
your system.

Assuming everything is in your PATH then you should be able to get a
development environment up and runnign with these commands:

*1. git clone ***@github.com/LimeSurvey/LimeSurvey
<http://***@github.com/LimeSurvey/LimeSurvey>*

The clone will take a long time and requires you to have your github
credentials handy.

*2. application/limesurvey test*

This will use the built-in php webserver to launch listen on port 8080, if
it is active you can start the limesurvey installation using this link:
http://localhost:8080/

If you are not familiar with git, there are plenty of articles on the
internet that explain the basics.

Feel free to add me on skype (sam_mousa) in case you have any questions!

Cheers,

Sam

Hello Sam, I will try to get on the IRC on Monday. I was under the impression that almost everyone on the core team were German; so I was trying to say that my German was bad. Sorry for the confusion. However, I think that I did end up making my point.

In other news, I installed the previous version but not version 3 so I will need to update what I have. Looking forward to talking to all of you.

Best regards, Chris
